Try and wake up early, and go to bed early too. I’m not saying get up at 5 (unless that’s you’re thing) but sleeping into noon is a productivity blackhole. I go for 8 or 8:30, generally, but that’s just what works for me.
Get dressed for the day. I’m not talking like, jeans and a business casual outfit, but a clean pair of sweatpants, fresh underwear, and a new shirt can really put you in the mood for a new morning.
Have a workspace. Whether it be the kitchen table, a desk, a spot on the floor with a lap desk, have a place that’s dedicated to your work. Have items that signify that workspace too, like your book, planner, laptop, lamp, whatever. It can help you get into the zone, being in that space.
Have a morning drink. I choose earl grey tea with honey and cream, but black coffee, herbal tea, lemon water, whatever works for you is awesome, as long as itll wake you up and start your day.
To do lists. To do lists and to do lists and more to do lists. I have three. One is a post it weekly planner deal (3.99 at a local grocery store). it’s a weekly spread already set up, and if you’re anything like me, its really hard to set up a weekly spread. Then I have an app called Ike. I have a daily to do list I write on that app, and then I have four more to-do lists of what I have to for each specific class.
Spread out your assignments. Don’t overwhelm yourself. If you’re professors are like mine, and have the due date for each module as Sunday at midnight. What I do is spread out all my assignments from Monday to Saturday, and I leave Sunday blank, so anything I didn’t do that week, I finish on Sunday. It works for me, it might work for you.
Have a folder for each class, and a notebook for each class. I hate spending money, I’m broke as hell, sono al verde as the Italians say, but a 0.99 cent folder and a 0.25 cent notebook can do wonders for motivating one to fill them up.
Study with a drink. Tea, water, coffee, whatever, but my go to is generally a warm drink. I cannot study if I’m cold, I get tired and groggy, so warm socks, a robe, and a hot drink really keep me going.
Take breaks. Make time for your hobbies, for something fun. Working without stopping absolutely destroys my motivation, and let me tell you, when I feel like that, an episode of Avatar and a snack gets me right back on the wagon.
Do self check ins. Does your back hurt? Are you sad? Stressed? Do you have to pee? Are you hungry? Never put your homework over your health. You won’t be able to get anything done well anyway if you’ve got those blocks.
Most importantly, get enough sleep. I beg of you. Sleep is so important, and it’s the game changer, at least to me. We as students have such an amazing opportunity to get more sleep than we ever have before during the year. Take advantage of that.
Just thinking about people making year-end summaries of their accomplishments and also about reasons to keep yourself alive through the next year. Sorry, it’s a bit of a sappy comic.
I feel that in the studyblr community nobody actively talks about the study environment some of us have, so shoutout to those students that:
• live with their parents (not everyone goes to college/uni where they have dorms, and even then, not everyone can afford it)
• have to deal with parents/family members constantly arguing in the background
• work / have to worry heavily about just getting by (paying rent, groceries, medication)
• need loud music to study and drown outside noises
• can not “study prettily” at coffee shops
• take care of other family members, and thus have to be ready to drop whaterever they are doing to assist them at any time
• can not concentrate or get “in the zone” no matter what they do
• do not have a personal computer/tablet
• do not have a room of their own
• are neurodivergent and the advice of most study masterpost/tips is not applicable.
You are valid, you are seen, you are not alone. If nobody has told you already: if you are trying the best you can then the best you can is good enough.
I’ve never actually seen what it looked like before Mt. Rushmore…it’s so saddening.

you know what really gets me about this? there’s a photograph. people think the genocide of indigenous people was centuries ago, but here is proof that it happened when photographs were existent. proof that white imperialism was alive and kicking when photographing things was available. while the original events were longer ago than the carving, the defacing of sacred land is still happening.
THE STAFF REALLY WENT AN EXTRA MILE TO ANIMATE THIS SERIES! Like they seriously could’ve gotten away with cutting corners and have talking heads or just panning shots. BUT NOPE. GONNA MAKE IT ENTERTAINING AF!

hey friends!! a lot of you ask me for tips on things all the time + this is just some really good advice i’ve learnt throughout my years of being a student shared with you:
revision
study frequently so when exams/tests come by you only need to revise your shorter notes [you will thank yourself later]
i know it’s tedious but try to always do your homework [it’ll help you in the long run]
do your readings before class, this will help you understand better!!
use time wisely, for example study on the bus on the way to school [i really like doing this]
teach yourself material by giving lessons to soft toys or maybe using actual tools found in your household [i like using this method particularly for biology especially with water]
if you have to read to revise, read aloud
record yourself to be able to listen later when on the bus or something [i like doing this with poetry]
make sure to always get enough sleep, it’s not worth it losing sleep over studying! [also i find it better to wake up a little early to revise than sleep late]
incense works wonders if you’re trying to calm yourself down whilst studying
keep a hot beverage around when you’re studying + reward yourself by drinking a little bit of it when you want to
get rid of distractions while you’re studying, put your phone on flight mode or leave it to charge somewhere
watch videos on a particular topic before you cover it in class
if your syllabuses are available online, download them + print them out
have an organised desk, it helps you feel less stressed
use the pomodoro technique to study
make sure you have good lighting
work out past exam papers if they’re available to you, these are really good practice for your exam!
talk to your teachers during their office hours if you need to, that’s what they’re there for
if you’re too afraid to do the latter, send them an email when you need them!
have different files for every subject to keep you organised
don’t neglect any subject- just give them the time they need + prioritise
use a planner/bullet journal to help you plan your week
school stuff
smile at people, you have no idea how much it could brighten their day [plus your smile is great!!!]
always keep a water bottle handy
make your school lunch in the evening so you can sleep a bit more in the morning + not spend your money on school lunches
always take your headphones + charger to school [if they’re allowed]
keep some emergency money or something in your pencil case, you never know when you might need them!
if you menstruate make sure to keep a bag with stuff for when you’re menstruating [if not for you, maybe your friends may need something too]
take naps on the bus if the journey is long [make sure you don’t sleep + end up on the other side of the city/country]
if you have free lessons, utilise them! do your work at school if it can be done there so you are able to study/relax at home!
always take a book with you to school just in case you ever get bored
go to a guidance counselour if you need one [they can help with practically anything you may need!]
go to private tutoring lessons if you need them/can afford them
personal life
take pictures, lots of them!!! not just for instagram or something, they’re actually a really great memory
don’t forget to visit your relatives every now and then
watch the news/read articles to help you stay in touch with the real world
don’t worry so much about social media honestly from experience, it’s trivial anyway. indulge yourself in the real world + spend time with family and friends!!
don’t compare yourself to others, you’re not them + they are not you!
try to get some exercise done, even if it’s just using the stairs instead of a lift or dancing around in your room
always keep yourself hydrated
remember to take a day off once a week, it’ll help you avoid burnout
